Women's Retreat Speaker? Anyone?

What the heck. I'll put this out there, in case any of you guys have a great lead:

I'm chairing the Women's Retreat committee at (well, one of) my church(es) this year. At this point, I have the dates set and the retreat center booked for a weekend in the western NC mountains. Now, of course, I am looking for an awesome, engaging, encouraging, spiritually-gifted, makes-you-laugh-while-tugging-at-your-heartstrings, all-around fantabulous speaker to book for the weekend. For a group of 100 (I'm optimistic) ladies, ages 25-85. It would be great if she was based in the Southeast so that the majority of the budget could go towards her speaking fee, not her airfare/travel. (And she can't cost more than $1500 for the weekend.)

Have you heard, seen, heard of, or can recommend anyone who fits this bill? At your church? At a women's conference? A retreat or seminar?

I have a handful of potentials I'm considering at the moment, and there's always the well that we drew from last year; they have a plethora of qualified speakers, and our group really enjoyed the pair that we engaged. They did an entire "What Not to Wear/Extreme Makeover" bit--very popular. But I'm keen on personal recommendations. It's weird blindly researching people online. I'd like to have 8 solid possibilities by my meeting next Wednesday, just in case some of the ones we're interested in are already booked for this fall.

ETA: I'm flipping through last year's evaluations... several people suggested Beth Moore. Yowzers. I don't know what her speaking fee is, but we're no where close to being able to afford it!

Please don't get Beth Moore anyhow, even if you can somehow miraculously afford her. Her Greek and Hebrew are atrocious. She makes me cringe and want to tear my hair out.

Also, I'll go through my favorites and see if I can think of anybody awesome and available for that slot. (Being a theology geek means I actually have a lot of friends, male and female, who do this for a living. <3)

She would not have been my personal choice, anyway. :)

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Dawn Eden, authoress of The Thrill of the Chaste. Read her blog at: The Dawn Patrol to get a flavor of her. There are links to talks she's given and suchlike at the above sites.
