Family Tree

So I've been sick, and sitting/lounging/sleeping around the house for the past two days...

Yesterday, I decided to do something useful with my time (difficult, considering I have zero energy) and work on fleshing out my family tree. I couldn't sleep last night due to the gunk in my head and the gravel in my chest, so I fired up Reunion and started entering names and dates. I began with my great-grandmother (my mother's father's mother) and worked until I exhausted the info I'd been able to come up with on that branch. It was 856 people! I was fairly easily able to trace that line back to Pierre Cresson in 1578 France, whose son came from Picardy to Staten Island in the mid-17th century. So now I can justifiably be offended when my brother-in-law makes white flag and stinky cheese jokes.

In the process, I found service information on a handful of Confederate ancestors, the most closely related being my great-great grandfather, who served in Company A of the 57th Regiment, NC Infantry. So now, as the Doctor points out, I can go join up with "the Confederate chicks". We'll see about that.

Today, I guess I'll start work on another twig.
