Christmas Chairs

Just before Christmas, while visiting family in eastern NC, drmellow, ccohoon, olga_ukraine and I checked out a new little coffee/antiques shop that had opened in downtown Columbia. I ended up purchasing four chairs and my Very Awesome Inlaws™ (with the aid of few other family members) were kind enough to rescue them from the shop and house them until we returned the following week with a larger vehicle.

Not a fan of the blue flame stitch that was on them, I went shopping for fabric in my Mom's closets over Christmas and reupholstered them. Two received rose velvet seats (visible in an earlier post) and the other two (destined for Bird's room, maybe?), an embroidered matelasse.

I was pleased with how they turned out, and surprised to find upon returning home from Atlanta, that Mom (after dropping off the chairs) had reupholstered my kitchen barstools in rose-colored velvet to match! (We had talked about doing this, but I didn't have the seat measurements with me.) She also offered me one of her extra staple guns for future projects and had baked me a coconut cake. Moms don't come any better than that!
