Firing Up The Furnace

Well. Two days ago it was 90 degrees, but this morning it was cold enough to turn on the heat. After several hours of numb fingers and toes, I couldn't stand a 64-degree house anymore, so I flipped the switch. Even Bird was puffed up, huddled on his perch. Now, he's cooing his thanks.

They say that over time, people begin to resemble their pets. Or is it the other way around? I dare say that after 20-odd years together, we've adopted some of each other's more... distinctive qualities--foremost, the mutual preference for existence in a narrow temperature range. We're both happiest between 68 and 72 degrees.

We should schedule the hvac guys to come out and make sure the furnace isn't spewing toxic gas.
