Second Thoughts

Somebody remind me why I thought it would be a good plan to leave at 4am tomorrow to drive 4 hours and take pictures of waterfalls. I still have to pack.

I want to take pictures of waterfalls, it's just that 4am is so... early.

Lemme know how it goes. I'm wondering how much water is falling with how dry its been.

Are waterfalls around here affected by the lack of rain like the falls around Vegas? I'd guess they'd have to be, at least, somewhat affected.

We were at Hanging Rock, about three weeks ago, doing some hiking and we hiked to a very dry Tory's Falls. Kind of a bummer to end a hike at a mostly dried up fall. Its listed as a 240 foot, multilevel cascade.

Maybe next year.

Yep, falls are here are affected by droughts just like in Vegas. Lucky for me, it poured down rain my whole drive out on Friday, so imagine the falls had a little more "fall" to them than they've been having recently. I'd still like to go back sometime and hike them when they're in full glory.

I love Hanging Rock. The view from the top makes me feel like I'm literally sitting on top of the world. (I've never been hiking out West, so consider my limited perspective!) I try to make it up there every other year or so. I was just thinking it was time for another trip a few weeks ago. It's been a long, long time since I hiked the Tory Falls trail--it's a handful of miles round-trip, isn't it? That would be a bummer to wind up at a pitiful little trickle.

There are two hiking options - we opted for the lazy mans version and parked at the secondary lot. Shortens the hike by half.

I am completely out of hiking health. :{

Glad there was some water flowing for'ya.
