Asheville Adventure

Tomorrow morning I've got a retreat committee meeting at church to finalize plans for the Women's Retreat coming up in September. Looking at my calendar, I realized that the retreat is only 3 weeks away. Yikes!

Most of my obligations (website, announcement list, PR, publications) are pretty much wrapped up at this point, so I should be able to lend a hand with other stuff. And I shouldn't have to mess too much with registration for once, since other people have volunteered to handle that. (I'm so excited; it seems like every club/fraternity/organization I've ever been involved in has designated me the registrar for every event/conference/symposium I've ever helped organize.) I will be glad to have a little more free time at the event and not have to be involved so closely with set-up.

This means I probably won't have to arrive at the retreat center so early on Friday afternoon and can spend the day wandering around Asheville. (Translation: I can visit The Chocolate Fetish *dies from truffle-induced ecstasy* and eat supper at the Mellow Mushroom *fantasizes about white pizza*.) It's too bad I don't have friends in the area anymore; it would be an awesome chance to catch up, and bonus to have someone to eat supper with.

I'm actually thinking I might pack my camera, head up a day early, and go waterfall-hunting around Cashiers and Highlands. I'll be a couple of miles from the tallest waterfall east of the Rockies--Whitewater Falls. I think this plan hinges on my ability to find a decent place to stay in the area so that I don't have to drive back to Asheville for the night. So far, everything I've located online is either overpriced or overly sketchy. There are a lot of neat bed & breakfasts, but since it's just me and just for one night, I wasn't really planning on going that route... but who knows. It could turn out to be my best option.

Prince rocks.

And "escarpment" is one of my favorite words in the English language.

No WAY. As if you needed any more cool points, you just got all of my votes. :)

The Chocolate Fetish might possibly be my favorite store on the entire planet. You are my hero.
