Got up bright and early so I could sit in front of the computer and snag Van Halen tickets when they went on sale. Beeler, Rebecca and I (okay, really Rebecca and I) have decided to fulfill our childhood fantasies and pay homage to Diamond Dave when he makes his appearance in town next month. Maybe I'll die my hair pink and put it in a side-ponytail for the occasion. Perhaps I can dig out my leather miniskirt and find a slinky, sequined top to round out the ensemble.

Speaking of hair, I lopped 12 inches off of mine last Friday before heading to camp. It was hot, and a fairly spur-of-the-moment decision--though an idea that I'd been tossing around for some time. I was tired of getting my locks caught in the waist of my jeans. I wore it pinned up all week in the mountains, so I didn't really have a chance to process the change; this week, I've been having all sorts of fun with my hair--I love it. It's so much easier to curl (now that I can reach the ends), plus I can wear it down once again.

I've gotten a lot of compliments on the new look, but what I think is so funny is how surprised everyone seems at learning how long my hair was in the first place. Apparently, I was walking around with a huge secret (the source of my secret powers, no doubt), and didn't even know it. *grin*

I'll see what I can do. It might take me a bit to come up with a representative "before" shot.

12 inches is a lot of hair. Did you donate it?

I'd heard about Van Halen kicking their come back tour off here, pretty cool.

Sadly, I did not donate it... I hadn't planned to cut that much off, so I kept clipping bit by bit. Now that I know there's nothing to be afraid of (I've had super-long locks since a disastrous experience in 7th grade), I'll plan accordingly next time.

You are a brave soul!

I have to spend days talking myself into cutting my nails, forget about my hair. ;}

When I donated mine it was long enough to tuck into my pants. Your hair is so thick, mine is very thin.

My intention is always to grow it back long enough to donate again but I just get so used to the simplicity of shorter hair.

I'd like to do it one more time before it grays and they won't take it.

Have the best
