Sibling Solidarity

I'm having some Raisin Bran for breakfast because somebody (three guesses) ate the last of my Special K Red Berries and didn't bother to tell me so I could get another box. And I'm realizing that I don't like Raisin Bran anymore. I've never really cared for raisins (too sweet) and these are coated in sugar...ugh. They make my teeth cringe.

I bought two boxes recently--in a fit of nostalgia--when I passed them on the aisle and the bright, smiling sun on the shelf reminded me of having breakfast at my grandparents' house when I was very little. My cousins and I used to eat Raisin Bran and fight over who got the plastic, send-away cereal bowl with Mr. Sun on the bottom. There was only one bowl and four of us. I usually lost the fight for the bowl to my bossy older cousin, which in part, accounted for my move to honey on whole-wheat toast. It's what the adults ate, plus I got to put my own bread in the bread-levitating toaster.

Years later, my brother claimed that toaster as his "prize" from my grandparents' estate after they died, so I feel like we scored a small victory in the end. The toaster still works; I have no idea where that plastic bowl is.
