Spanish Update

Last night was the finale of my Spanish 201 class. Again, my classmate, A., and I went out for dinner and a few beers with our profesora afterwards. This time, we headed to La Cabana on High Point Road. In addition to traditional Mexican fare, they had a wide variety of offerings centro americano--the owner is El Salvadorean. I had some awesomely spicy shrimp and peppers; next time I want to try the pupusas.

I love patronizing restaurants off the beaten path; that's easy to do, considering the number of Mexican restaurants in Greensboro. A while back, I felt inspired to attempt to try them all, but there are so many (and new ones popping up all the time), I'm not sure it's possible.

I excited my profesora by telling her I'd be signing up for her Advanced Spanish class in the fall, which starts at the end of August. I'll welcome the break, though; it'll give me a chance to work through some of the translation exercises in the new grammar book I just bought, and also to get into the groove of ESL tutoring. At my meeting last Friday, I picked out a student and we're due to start week after next.
