Pantry Paradox

The past few days I've been trying to make a dent in our cereal stash. I'm halfway through a box. There are 8 boxes left. This is the problem with buying things in bulk.

I've used a little bit of stuff out of the fridge, but not enough to see a noticeable difference. And I've figured out why. The biggest challenge I have facing me is this: loving to cook requires having lots of stuff on hand, but I simply don't eat all that much.

Take the past three days, for example. Sunday: one bowl of cereal for brunch and the tastiest Texas Three-Meat Chili, Jalapeno Bacon Cornbread and beer I've ever had for supper (expertly prepared by beeler, so it used nothing out of my fridge!). Monday: one bowl of cereal for breakfast, a chocolate malt for lunch, The Chinese Kitchen for supper with feiheli--by which time I was so full that I ordered a cup of Hot & Sour Soup, ate a few dumplings and skipped ordering an entree entirely. Today: a bowl cereal for breakfast and a caramel milkshake (thanks to drmellow) for lunch. I have my sights set on some Ramen noodles (if anything) for supper tonight.

The way I see it, I have two options: I can cook stuff and freeze it so there's always stuff on hand for drmellow to eat, or I can start exercising more in hopes that I'll be hungrier. Exercising more is certainly a worthy goal in and of itself, so maybe I'll combine the two approaches.

Dang, let's trade appetites. I am hungry almost ALL of the time. (I dread being pregnant for so many reasons....)
