NaNoWriMo: Day Three

Daily Word Count: 1711
Total Word Count: 5442

WooHoo! I'm a tenth of the way through my novel! That kind of worries me, seeing as how I haven't really started writing about anything yet. It might be time to take a little break from character development/setting and get on with the plot (I'm working on it; my main character is actually in the car driving someplace at this point).

I didn't start writing this evening until about 7 o'clock, sometime after the good Doctor had left for Tyrrell County. I thought it would be easy--having the house to myself and whatnot--but instead, it was easier to think of other things to do. I made and drank, what? About 8 cups of tea? Then I called my parents. I wasn't very motivated to write this evening; I found myself getting sidetracked on unanticipated tangents, straying from my original plan. I think before I start writing again, I need to spend some additional time on story architecture; I've got to corral my plot.

I've also realized I write better when I write earlier. No more of this writing after dark when I want to be curling up under a blanket and getting warm. I think tomorrow I'm going to take my show on the road and go write at a coffee shop. Right now, I'm going to mix myself a drink and watch Bullets Over Broadway. 'Cause that's what writers do.

You're about 5,430 words ahead of me. Wait, I think "it was a dark and stormy night" brings it to 5,425. Anyway, as you can tell I haven't done diddly squat on my NaNoWriMo word count.

Are you writing, too? I had no idea! (Or maybe I'm just a dolt.) If so, I'll add you as a writing buddy. And I will feel entitled to give you a hard time. ;)

Yes, I'm writing too. I started last year, but gave up after I had written about 1000 words in 2 weeks. So I'm going to try again this year. Go a different route than the story I had in my head last year. We'll see what happens. Although I have a feeling with the house stuff and moving next week that I probably won't start doing much of anything until after the 12th when I will really have nothing to do with my time.

and to finish the thought -
Please don't torture me until at least the 12th.
Or at least don't go full force on my until then.

No problem. It amazes me that you would even attempt it with all you've got going on! I just found you on the website, so I added you to my "list". I'm not saying what kind of list it is, just yet... ;)
