Instrument Woes

Yes! Finally!

I was beginning to get fed up with practicing flute. For two months, I've had a certain key that would periodically decide to misbehave. Despite my efforts to tighten all screws and align all springs, I still had not figured out exactly what the problem was. Sometimes things worked; sometimes they didn't. But inevitably, they didn't work whenever I decided to play anything containing the affected notes. I found myself avoiding pieces in entire key signatures just to circumvent the problem. I was ready to take it to the shop.

Today, I decided to poke around at my instrument before I started practicing. Lo and behold! There was a spring out of place. A little prodding revealed that it likes to pop in and out of place on its own. How very sneaky. I popped that sucker back into place and bent it so it shouldn't come out again--without a lot of help.

Ahhhh. Everything sounds fine. :)

Instrument repair
I learned recently, and keep forgetting to tell you, that Robah, our band director, runs Oggie's Band Repair on W. 4th Street, next to Seapark Music.
