Swim Log: 8/9/06

400 Warm-Up
8x50 Sprints; 1:20 interval
200 Free
200 Breast
400 IM
400 Cool-Down

Total Yds: 2000
Laps: 80

I was tired during the IM and my shoulder hurt, so I didn't swim any Fly and filled in with extra Backstroke. I really need to build my shoulder muscles back up, especially the right one. I can feel the tear during certain motions and the scar tissue breaking up inside makes a weird noise that I can hear through the water. I backed my sprint interval down to 1:20 and regretted it halfway through, but I stuck with it and was glad. I still had a lot of rest in between. I'm cool with that for now.

I stopped at the swimshop on the way to the pool to pick up some paddles, but they only had Large in the contoured kind I want. They were twice the size of my hands! I bought a new suit, instead, since they had several designs on clearance.

Wow, I didn't know you can hear your scar tissue breaking up noise. Don't hurt yourself. Don't forget stratching too. Eat meet, lots meet. Do you still have shark leftovers?... in the freezer?... Mmmh...

Well, I think you can hear it more when it surrounds point of articulation/joints. I learned to listen for the sound of the scar tissue breaking up when I was going to physical therapy for my shoulder tear a couple of years ago. My therapist taught me to hear/feel it so I would know if any was building up around the tear. The goal was too increase the intensity of my stretching/shoulder exercises if I heard any, so that the tissue would stay broken up, since scar tissue impedes the range of motion of joints. It sounds pretty loud (and weird!) in the pool, since my shoulder is very close to my ear while I'm swimming and the water helps magnify the sound.

You need a good massage...
Thanks for the explanation. One of the words you said - I had to look up in a dictionary. :) - English is my second language. Thanks for the lesson. P)

Which word did you look up? :)

And no problem about the lesson... I'm glad all that money I spent on therapy taught me something!
