Briarcliff Turns 80

I forgot to write this post yesterday, so I'm writing it now.

It was exactly one year ago yesterday that we signed the papers to purchase our new, old house. Since I have no idea what date the house was actually completed, I had already decided to proclaim July 19th--the date we purchased it--as the house's anniversary. We do know that the house (which I've coincidentally decided to dub "Briarcliff") was built in 1926, so that makes yesterday the official 80th anniversary of the homeplace! Pretty neat. In honor of the occasion, I've decided to print up some special, limited edition Christmas cards commemorating the occasion this year. Who knows...maybe they'll become a Christmas tradition.

Anyway, we've enjoyed the past year here, doing things to make the house our own. I look around and think about how, in that short time, the house has become our home. Here's to Briarcliff, and to 80 years more!
