The Run-Down

It's been a busy past couple of days.

Funeral Tuesday, for which I played in the band. It was a very touching service, and I exhausted the stash of Kleenex I had in my purse. I spent the rest of the afternoon visiting my friend's family at her Grandmother's house, which was apparently very appreciated. Not only was the family appreciative of someone coming over to help eat all the food (fried chicken is apparently the Official Food of Mourning™ in the South - there were at least 8 different recipes there), my friend appreciated someone to talk to other than her family at that point.

Wednesday, I had big plans to do stuff around the house. Big plans until a shooting pain lashed out across my back at about 10:30 in the morning, that was. I had felt that pain exactly once in my life before and 2 seconds of it was enough to know my brain could not handle it again. I marched straight upstairs and made myself a cocktail of Vicodin and hydromorphone. Thirty minutes later, I was out cold. Four hours later, I had not one, but two kidney stones to show for it. Ouch! But so much more pleasant than spending 24 hours in the ER, writhing in pain. Thank goodness I rarely take pain pills when they're actually prescribed for me; it's nice to have my own personal narcotics stash on hand.

Needless to say, I didn't accomplish anything else on Wednesday, due to complete and utter loopiness. Thursday, I mostly lounged in bed, watched TV and drank water (yay, hydration!), then made my costume for Vacation Bible School.

This morning, I wore my costume to play the part of Anna ("You ridiculous, witless shepherds! Watch what you're doing!"). My costume turned out great; too bad I only got to wear it for 15 minutes. I might have to volunteer to be drmellow's female counterpart in Sunday morning dramas.

Oh, you poor thing. Kidney stones are the worst. I bet some more fried chicken would have made them better.;)
