Garrrrr. The swimming pool gods are conspiring against me.

From elementary to high school, I swam competitively year-round. I want an indoor pool membership so I can start swimming again. I can't use the UNCG Rec Center, because I'm not currently enrolled as a student. (I might be able to use it during summer school.) I don't want to pay $80 a month to join the Y. Their pool isn't even all that great. Last week I was excited to learn that some of the local high school pools offer weekday lap swimming through the Parks & Rec Department. One of them is right down the street from me. According to the P & R website, it's $2/session for adults, but you can buy 12 tickets for $15. Well, that sealed it. That was obviously the way to go.

I couldn't find any more info online about how or where to get these elusive tickets (and I don't know anything about that high school campus), so today I found the number and called up the pool office. Who did I get? A recording, telling me that the pool is closed for the next month while they resurface the bottom. Poo. They did tell me that I could go swim at some other high school I've never heard of, so it's probably far away.

As I said: The swimming pool gods are conspiring against me.

UltraGeek is good. You just can't have a green costume, too. Oooh. I think yours should be pink.

As for the icon, you could upload it to your LJ Scrapbook. I could probably copy it from there.

I have H-2-Woes as well.
We upgraded our gym membership so that we could go to the ones with the pool - basic vs sport. The closest sport gym doesn't have a pool. Sauna, but no pool. The one with a pool is an hour away. This is not conducive to exercising.

Oh, good. Someone to share in my misery. Trying to find a pool sucks. There seems to be a real shortage of them in Greensboro. You, on the other hand, have the gorgeous Berkeley Aquatic Club, whose website I visited earlier today. Wow, do they ever have a pool! I'm sure it's mostly competition-oriented, though.
